**Marketing Tips for Virtual Assistants
**

Virtual assistants are unique in that they’re a blend of two very different skill sets. On the one hand, you’re an independent contractor responsible for marketing yourself and your services. On the other hand, you’re also a small business owner who needs to market their product or service — which just so happens to be you!

The biggest challenge for anyone in business is marketing. The most successful virtual assistants understand the importance of marketing and take action to create new opportunities and develop their brands.

Here are some tips for virtual assistants who want to grow their business with marketing:

Explain your value. Marketing should focus on explaining what you do, why you do it, and how you can help others. Knowing your value before you start marketing is important because it will help you decide which strategies are right for you. The first step in choosing a niche is considering the value you can provide to each group of customers.

Optimize Bio. Your bio can be a key part of your marketing strategy because it tells potential clients who you are and what they can expect from working with you. You’ve heard the saying, “you are what you eat.”

This starts with your marketing materials. Your bio can be a key part of your marketing strategy because it tells potential clients who you are and what they can expect from working with you.

Develop your niche. Knowing what niche or niches work best for your business helps narrow down which strategies are right for your business model. When you think of a niche, you may think of a small group with similar needs. A niche can be as broad as “dog lovers” or as specific as “people who want to train their dog to roll over.” The definition of niche is flexible and can be applied in many different ways.

Audit and clean your website. Your website is your virtual assistant’s calling card. It should be professional, well-organized, and easy to navigate. You can use a site like Squarespace or Wix to build your site, but you may want to hire a professional designer if you need something more complicated. A good first step is to look at what others are doing in your industry and see if they have any tips for creating an effective website. You can also get ideas from magazines or blogs about how businesses should market themselves online. Once you’ve figured out what works for other businesses, creating an effective website for yourself will be easier.

Build a brand instead of just a business. Build a brand instead of just a business. Your website should let visitors know who you are and what you do. It should also provide information about your services and pricing so people can decide if they’re interested in working with you before contacting you directly.

Use social media as much as possible. Social media is one of the best ways to get your name out there and connect with potential clients or partners. So make sure your social media profiles are up-to-date and include all relevant information about your business. You probably already have at least one LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook account — if not more — so start using them! If you don’t have any accounts yet, create them today!

Get testimonials from past clients on your website or blog (or both). This will help potential clients see how others view your work and show that others trust you enough to recommend you to others.
