10 STEPS TO HIRE A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT
The era of personal assistants is dead!
A virtual assistant can do all the personal assistant will do and more.
The virtual assistant industry is growing at a rapid pace.
Here’s a 10-step guide to hiring a virtual assistant: -
**
Define what your VA will do
**
Virtual assistant jobs include email collection, content writing, and social media management.
Virtual assistants are typically hired to assist with administrative, clerical, or other tasks that don’t require specialized skills. These are often part-time positions, making them flexible enough for people who want to work remotely.
**
Figure out your budget
**
Determine how much you want to spend outsourcing a task. You may have a lot of functions, but that will require more money. So, please find out how much it will cost to hire a VA to determine the tasks to outsource.
**
Create your onboarding training
**
It would help if you showed your VA how you would like your work done. Hence the training. It could take hours or minutes, depending on the task. This allows your VA to pick up from where you left off.
**
Conduct your search
**
You can find virtual assistants in many different ways.
You can search for virtual assistants on freelance sites like Upwork and Toptal. You can also post your job on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Or you can go directly to an agency that specializes in recruiting freelancers for small business owners.
**
Interview candidates
**
If you have gotten a VA after the search, you should first conduct a VA interview. At this point, you should know everything about the VA and how it will work for your company. You can ask them any questions you may have and ensure they are fully aware of their responsibilities and roles in the company.
**
Give a short trial test**.
The best way to test a virtual assistant’s (VA’s) work ethic is to give them a small task.
It is essential to test every VA before you hire them. This is because it will give you an idea of their ability and how they will perform on more significant tasks in the future.
**
Do a trial run
**
After the short test, determine if you’ll like to work with your VA long-term by doing a trial run. Work with them for a short period to judge their competence and your compatibility with them. It could range from a week to 60 or 90 days.
**
Set reasonable expectations
**
After you’ve hired your VA, you need to set reasonable expectations. You don’t expect faster and quality work from inexperienced VA. Give room for improvement, and keep communication easy and open. Where there’s no improvement, you can end the contract.
**
Give job
**
Finally, could you give them the job? Tell them the objectives of the job and give them guidelines too.
The best way to do this is to write down what you want to be done and then show it to the candidate. If they ask questions, answer them clearly — but don’t give away too much information.
**
Ensure accountability
**
How do you know if your VA is doing the job? Some business coaches use daily check-ins and check-outs, weekly meetings, and time-tracking software. But these methods can be inefficient.
